I have been remiss lately posting chapters here on the blog, but to make up for it three fresh chapters are now posted under the Sanditon tab (chapters (19 to 21). All three take place beyond the ending we saw on screen.
The only reason to marry is Love
The reason why it took me so long to write the latest chapters of Sanditon revisited is that I got wrapped up in another story in between. The full story is now published here under the Sanditon heading. It is a novel of some 300 pages.
Storyline:
Sidney Parker is set on never marrying, but when it is the only way to save a young lady from ruin he changes his mind. Still a reluctant groom, he is determined a wife will not change his life, but soon finds he was quite mistaken. He struggles with his changing feelings, unaware that so does she. Will circumstances and words unspoken keep them apart, or will they find the way to each other’s hearts?
Sidney’s and Charlotte’s gripping love story, playing out during the Regency era though they meet in a different setting. I have aimed to stay true to their characters.
The only reason to marry is Love
Fun fact: what triggered this story was a prompt challenge from Sanditon Creative during the Valentine’s week; The prompt was ‘Forced marriage‘, one of the tropiest of tropes and I never foresaw that it would develop into this story but I got kind of carried away because I love the characters of Sidney and Charlotte so much.
Reaching the end of Sanditon revisited
Or at least reaching the end as it was on screen, as the final bits are covered in this new chapter.
Chapter 18: The end of naivety
As you can imagine, the latest two chapters were hard to write and to be honest I’m glad to be done with it so I now can continue beyond the sad ending. In Chapter 18 I have tried to filled some gaps I thought were there in episode 8.
What happened in the time between Sidney telling Charlotte he had to engage himself to Eliza and the Babington wedding? Did he leave immediately? How did Charlotte cope? Were the Parkers completely insensible to her feelings? What about Georgiana? What happened between the wedding and Charlotte’s departure? So many questions because that episode was so rushed and ended so badly for a last episode of a series. A cliffhanger for next series would be alright, but I’m still mad at them for writing such an ending to a Jane Austen when a second series was not secured.
Now when that part of the story is done I can look forward and try to give it the ending I want for them.
Sorry for the long wait…
..but now there finally is a new chapter of Sanditon revisited published under the Sandition tab.
For you who are new to this story, this is a re-telling of Sanditon. It follows the plot on the eight existiting episodes closely, from Sidney’s and Charlotte’s perspective and with a deep dive into their thoughts and feelings. It will continue after ep 8 (which is where I am now), to fix the sad ending.
I started writing this already before it ended like it did because I knew I would want a book to return to, like for my other fav Jane Austen adaptions. As there wasn’t one I set out to write the book I wanted. I am not at all attempting to mimic Jane’s style but writing my interpretations of the characters.
The new chapter is sad, because the show is sad at this point but to cheer myself up I am writing another story in parallel. Will post it here soon too.
12 Days of Sanditon one-shots
I wrote two one-shots for the Sanditon Creative’s ’12 Days of Sanditon’ challenge https://sanditoncreative.tumblr.com/tagged/12-days-of-sanditon.
Snow is not the only thing that happens in Willingden takes place in the winter after the series end and A fiery winter game is a modern AU. Both are now published under Sanditon in the menu and do I need to say that both contain happy endings? Would never write something miserable in Christmas time.
Apologies to anyone…
…who may be waiting for my Our Girl stories to continue. They will, but right now my heart is located in Sanditon and that is the story that comes to me. Chapter 6 of Sanditon revisited just published under Sanditon in the menu.
Is it conceivable I had her wrong?
Chapter 5 of Sanditon revisited is published now. Really writing this out of my own need to relive the lovely series and giving it another end, but hope you enjoy too.
In the absence of an announcement…
…that there will be a season 2 of Sanditon not to leave us having with that sad end, I continue writing my fanfic and Chapter 4 has been added under Sanditon in the menu.
Chapter 3 of Sanditon revisited
Chapter 3 of Sanditon revisited now published under Sanditon in the menu.
Sanditon revisited vs Sanditon revised
I started my Sanditon fanfic Sanditon revisited because I fell in love with Charlotte and Sidney, but will continue also because I resent the ending they got in the series. I mean; WTAF?
I can promise for sure this story will end differently. So, I upgrade my initial intention to just expand on the love story, to revising the way it ended or at least not let it end there. I was truly miserable after the last episode on Sunday night but writing this cheers me up, perhaps reading it will improve your mood too.
Chapter 2 now published under Sanditon in the menu, because obviously they deserve better. Just look at them.
