The only reason to marry is Love

The reason why it took me so long to write the latest chapters of Sanditon revisited is that I got wrapped up in another story in between. The full story is now published here under the Sanditon heading. It is a novel of some 300 pages.

Storyline:

Sidney Parker is set on never marrying, but when it is the only way to save a young lady from ruin he changes his mind. Still a reluctant groom, he is determined a wife will not change his life, but soon finds he was quite mistaken. He struggles with his changing feelings, unaware that so does she. Will circumstances and words unspoken keep them apart, or will they find the way to each other’s hearts?

Sidney’s and Charlotte’s gripping love story, playing out during the Regency era though they meet in a different setting. I have aimed to stay true to their characters.

The only reason to marry is Love

Fun fact: what triggered this story was a prompt challenge from Sanditon Creative during the Valentine’s week; The prompt was ‘Forced marriage‘, one of the tropiest of tropes and I never foresaw that it would develop into this story but I got kind of carried away because I love the characters of Sidney and Charlotte so much.

Reaching the end of Sanditon revisited

Or at least reaching the end as it was on screen, as the final bits are covered in this new chapter.

Chapter 18: The end of naivety

As you can imagine, the latest two chapters were hard to write and to be honest I’m glad to be done with it so I now can continue beyond the sad ending. In Chapter 18 I have tried to filled some gaps I thought were there in episode 8.

What happened in the time between Sidney telling Charlotte he had to engage himself to Eliza and the Babington wedding? Did he leave immediately? How did Charlotte cope? Were the Parkers completely insensible to her feelings? What about Georgiana? What happened between the wedding and Charlotte’s departure? So many questions because that episode was so rushed and ended so badly for a last episode of a series. A cliffhanger for next series would be alright, but I’m still mad at them for writing such an ending to a Jane Austen when a second series was not secured.

Now when that part of the story is done I can look forward and try to give it the ending I want for them.
